Blockheads ~ Block 27
Blockheads ~ Block 27
It's September! Fall! For some... it's the happiest time of year because Fall marks the return of Pumpkin Spice Lattes. And of course, a Fall color palette.
These are Tammy's blocks - all 27 of them. As soon as we get a design wall hung in the office, we'll take a picture of them laid out.
This is Block 27 ~ Union Variation. It's from Jo Morton. Except Tammy made this one using fabrics from Jo Morton, Jan Patek, Kansas Troubles and Blackbird Designs. Starting in the center - the green is from New Hope by Jo Morton (more on that soon), the gold is from Wild Orchid by Blackbird Designs, the green HTSs are from a Kansas Troubles collection and the background if from Jan Patek's Fern Hill.

As always, the background is from Snowberry by 3 Sisters. The prints are from Lexington by Minick & Simpson, Rachel Remembered by Betsy Chutchian, and Alice's Scrapbag and Union Blues, both by Barbara Brackman.
For my Fig Tree & Co. block, the fabrics are from the Farmhouse and Chestnut Street collections and the background from the in-shops-now Ann's Arbor by Polly & Laurie, Minick & Simpson.
One quick thing to mention, these half-triangle squares finish at 1". Because there are more than a few of them and they're all the same two prints, this is a great time to use triangle paper. Do you use it? I do and two papers that work perfectly here are Primitive Gatherings' Triangle Paper and Spinning Stars Triangle Paper - both in the 1" finished size.
These are the kinds of product I always have on hand for blocks like this. And when you see setting for one of Lisa's Blockheads quilts, you're going to need some of these. A lot of them. (It's good... it's really, really good.)
Question of the Week ~ Is there a product-tool-ruler you wish you’d invented?
All of them! Seriously. I can't think of one that stands out as being "the One". Starting with the sewing machine going right through the rotary cutter to some of my favorite rulers, I wish I'd been that clever. Since I'm not, I'm happy that someone else was. LED lights - the Daylight Slimline! Couldn't sew without it. But wait... that still takes me back to the sewing machine. And the seam ripper. Thread! Thank you DMC, Lecien, Presencia, Coats & Clark and Aurifil thread for making beautiful thread in every possible weight, in every color of the rainbow. And the needle people!
The Post-It Note. And Ziploc bags. Now there are two products quilters can't live without that I wish I'd invented.
