72” square quilt; made up of [9] 18 inch blocks, one 3  inch boarders, and a final 6 inch border.

[1] Fat Quarter Bundle of 40040AB – Maureen McCormick’s A Blooming Bunch
[2] yards of 9900-182 Porcelain – background
[1] yard of 9900-120 Betty’s pink background
[1] yard of 9900-378 Sea Glass background
[1] yard 440044-11 for the final boarder
[1] yard 40045-11 for the binding
[5] yards of 40042-11 for the backing

FROM LIGHT BACKGROUND FABRIC, CUT:
* (1) 7” square
* (2) 3.5” x 6.5” rectangles
* (2) 3.5” squares

FROM PINK BACKGROUND FABRIC, CUT:
* (2) 4” squares

* (2) 2” x 6.5” rectangles
* (2) 2” x 5” rectangles

FROM SEA GLASS BACKGROUND FABRIC, CUT:
* (2) 4” squares

* (2) 2” x 6.5” rectangles
* (2) 2” x 3.5” rectangles

FROM PINK OR ORANGE PRINT, CUT:
* (2) 4” squares

FROM GREEN OR TEAL PRINT, CUT:
* (2) 4” squares

FROM LARGE PRINT FABRIC, CUT:
* (1) 7” square

FROM GREEN OR TEAL PRINT FABRIC, CUT:
* (4) 1.5” x 4.5” rectangles

FROM PINK OR ORANGE PRINT FABRIC, CUT:
* (2) 2” squares
* (2) 2” x 3.5” rectangles
* (2) 2” x 6.5” rectangles

STEP 1. MAKE HALF SQUARE TRIANGLES

Draw a diagonal line on the wrong side of all Background Pink and Sea Glass  4” squares and Porcelain 7” squares . Place (1) 4” square of pink background fabric right sides together with a 4” square of Teal or Green Print square. Sew ¼” away from each side of the marked line. Trim apart on line and press. Trim to 3.5” square.

Repeat process to make a total of:
* 4 Background Pink + Green or Teal at 3½” square
* 4 Background Sea glass + Pink or Orange at 3½” square
* 2 Porcelain + Large Print at 6½” square

STEP 2. MAKE 2-PATCHES

Sew 2-patch units by joining:
* 2” x 6.5” Pink Background + Teal or Green Prints; make 2 units
* 2” x 6.5” Sea Glass Background + Pink or Orange prints; make 2 units
* 2” x 3.5” Sea Glass Background+ 2” x 3.5” Pink or Orange prints; make 2 units

 STEP 3. MAKE 3-PATCHES

Join 2” x 5” Pink Background + 2” Pink or Orange Prints. Note the position of the Pink or Orange square on opposite sides of the each unit. Sew a 6.5” Teal or Green Print along the top of the units just sewn.

STEP 4. ASSEMBLE THE BLOCK

Join block units as shown. Trim block to 18½” unfinished size.

Make a total of 9 blocks that measure 18.5” unfinished.

CUT THE BORDER PIECES

For the first border, from light background fabric cut:

  • [2] 3.5” x 60.5” Strips (piece together as needed)
  • [2] 3.5” x 54.5’ strips (piece together as needed)

For the final boarder, from the low volume prints and various prints in the FQB

  • [22] 6.5” squares of low volume prints
  • [22] 6.5” squares of various colorful prints from the FQB

ASSEMBLE THE QUILT TOP

Sew together three rows of three 18.5” blocks, so that you essentially have a giant 9 patch which measures 54.5” square.
Sew a 3.5”x54.5’” strip to the left and right of the giant 9 patch.
Sew a 3.5” x 60.5” strip to the top of bottom of the giant 9 patch.
 
Sew together a strip of [10] 6.5” squares alternating low volume and print for a 6.5” x 60.5” strip. Repeat to form a second strip.  Sew a strip on the left and right side of the quilt top. Sew together a strip of [12] 6.5” squares alternating low volume and print for a 6.5” x 60.5” strip. Repeat to form a second strip.  Sew a strip on the top and bottom of the quilt top.

The quilt top should measure 72.5” square.
