YIELD

72” x 87.5” quilt

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 layer cake
  • 5/8 yard corner stones (yellow)
  • 1 ¼ yd sashing
  • 1 1/8 yd border
  • 1/3 yd binding
  • 5¼ yd backing

    Cut:

    From Cornerstone fabric, cut:

    •  (7) 2.5” x WOF strips; subcut (110) 2.5” squares

    From sashing, cut:

    •  (3) 14” x WOF strips; subcut (49) 2.5” x 14” strips for your “roads”

     From Layer Cakes, Cut:

    • (20) layer cake squares into (4) 2.5” x 10” strips for your “sidewalks”

    From Border Fabric, Cut:

    •  (8) 4.5” x WOF strips

    INSTRUCTIONS

    STEP 1 -  MAKE THE BLOCKS

    Arrange (4) cornerstones, (4) 2.5” x 10” sidewalks, and 1 layer cake square as shown. Sew pieces together in rows, press towards sidewalks. Sew rows together, press towards sidewalks.

    Make (20) blocks.

    STEP 2 – JOIN BLOCKS

    Layout blocks, cornerstones, and sashings. Sew pieces together in rows, press towards sashings. Sew rows together, press towards sideswalks.

    STEP 3 – ADD BORDERS

    Piece 4.5” border strips together along short edge to make one long strip. Cut (2) 4.5” x 80” borders for sides and (2) 4.5” x 72.5” borders for top and bottom.

    Sew borders to sides, press towards borders. Sew borders to top and bottom. Press quilt top well.

    Layer, baste, quilt as desired. Bind, label, and enjoy!
